New Year’s Message 2021

New Years 2021

New Years 2021

I want to personally invite you to sit with me, in the comfort of your own home, at 11:00 am PST, on January 1st 2021. I will be lighting a candle and chanting the Mangala Charan Mantra for 11 minutes.

At the conclusion, I will burn in a bowl a list of intentions that I want to manifest in the coming year, just like Sada did in the New Year’s Day class.

This is not a live via Zoom. Instead, I trust that we are all connected beyond time and space, sharing the same moment and welcoming the New Year.

Remember Guru Gayatri’s Founding Source,
A Message from our Beloved Sada Simran

Sada Simran KhalsaThis time of year is often filled with celebrations and social gatherings that give us a break from our regular routine. For many of us though, the holiday season can be challenging. As the extended darkness of these days call forth self-reflection, we often find ourselves filled with loneliness, sadness, and even depression.

As Yogis, we have the tools that can carry us through these days, but it’s a matter of applying what we know to every situation. My holiday trigger points are: 1) hanging with the family 2) grazing on holiday food and 3) the disruption of my routine and keeping bad hours. My teacher often reminded us that life is an applied science!

We know that simplifying our life… doing less, trusting more, and working with the ancient relationships of food, movement, breath, and meditation is foundational in creating a lifestyle that supports our awareness, inner connection, and joy! So let’s put what we know to work and create a satisfying, uplifting, and fulfilling new year.

Here are some reminders:

  • Staying in Community is so important!
This can be with your blood family, but often it is with your cadre, those friends that support and elevate you best. Attend yoga classes, go to church, serve at a free kitchen, take care of an aging elder. I’m not talking about the crowd at the bar.
  • Chanting can help you get through the gray year’s end with a calmer emotional body.
Chanting for me is like having a close friend sitting next to me, uplifting my spirit and soothing my anxiety. Practice Mantra Meditation every day.
  • Do your best to keep in touch with your routine.
Set up your own personal 14-day practice. That will take you into the new year.  With all the parties and family get-togethers, make sure to fit in some yoga and meditation each day.
  • Change your perspective. The old is out and the new is in! I look at the new year as a new beginning, it gives me a little hope to hang on to and I’m always looking for more hope!
Peace, Joy, Ease and Light as we continue…
